The winners of Love Island Australia may have taken home the title, but their prize money looked very different from previous seasons — and now, Yana has revealed what really happened behind the scenes after Dylan walked away with a chunk of the cash.

During the final week of the season, Islanders were faced with the infamous ‘Love or Money’ challenge, hosted by Sophie Monk.

The twist offered remaining contestants a tempting $20,000 cash prize, but with one major catch: anyone who took the money would have to leave the villa immediately, ending their couple on the spot.

Dylan chose to take the money and exit the competition, a move that also saw his partner Kodi dumped from the villa, instantly reshaping the final outcome.

Yana confirms Dylan kept the entire $20,000

In the finale’s Truth Bike segment, Kodi was asked whether Dylan had shared the money with her after leaving the villa. Her answer was blunt: “No.”

Although Dylan suggested at the time that Kodi could expect a portion, Yana has since confirmed that didn’t happen.

Yana revealed in a Interview that Dylan spent the entire amount on a new car — and didn’t hold back in sharing the evidence.

“He didn’t even give her anything. He sent a photo of his new car to our group chat, showing off what he spent it on, and we all just had a crack at him being like, ‘You’re a dog,’” Yana said.
“It’s also a sh**tbox.”

The revelation surprised fans, especially given Dylan’s earlier explanation for taking the money.

Dylan previously said the money was for family reasons

In a separate interview with 9Now, Dylan had claimed he planned to use the cash to travel back to Ireland to support his family.

“My sister lost her baby this year and she wants to fly home to mum,” Dylan said.
“I’m gonna pay for flights in February to spend three weeks at home with mum.”

Yana’s comments now suggest a very different outcome for the $20,000, adding another layer of controversy to one of the season’s most talked-about moments.

How much did Kye and Yana actually win?

Because Dylan removed $20,000 from the prize pool, winners Kye and Yana were left with a reduced total of $30,000, significantly less than what previous Love Island Australia winners have taken home.

Kye admitted that while the reduced prize was disappointing, he understood Dylan’s decision in the moment.

“It made sense for him to take it; there were three solid couples in the end, and it was probably the right decision in the moment,” Kye said.
“But, also, now that we have won, it’s a bit disappointing.”

Yana echoed that sentiment, admitting it didn’t feel great to win with a smaller prize.

“It’s a bit s**t now that we’ve won,” she said.

What will Yana and Kye spend their prize money on?

Despite the reduced winnings, Kye revealed that the prize money will largely go toward spoiling Yana — who he believes was the fan favourite this season.

“Yana’s now made a massive Christmas list, with a lot of Louis Vuitton on it,” Kye joked.
“And I think we winning was definitely because of her, so I think I’ll treat her for Christmas this year.”

For fans, the finale didn’t just crown a winning couple — it exposed the real-life consequences of the villa’s toughest twist, leaving lasting impressions well beyond the show’s final episode.

Why this moment stood out this season

The Love or Money challenge has always tested contestants’ priorities, but this season’s outcome proved how dramatically one decision can ripple through the entire competition.

With Dylan’s move reducing the final prize, sparking controversy over loyalty, and igniting post-show revelations, it’s clear this finale will be remembered as one of Love Island Australia’s most divisive endings yet.
