Channel 7’s most wholesome reality show is back — and this year’s lineup might just be its best yet.
Saddle up. Farmer Wants a Wife is returning to Channel 7 and 7plus in 2026 with five new farmers ready to open their gates — and their hearts — to love.
One is a rodeo cowboy with his own clothing brand. Another is a single dad who’ll cook you dinner and then take you camping. And one is inexplicably missing from the promos entirely. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2026 cast.
Channel 7 has confirmed the show is coming soon, with a late April 2026 premiere expected based on the past three seasons all launching in April. Last year, FWAW kicked off on 21 April 2025 in its regular Monday and Tuesday 7:30pm slot on Channel 7 — with all episodes also streaming on 7plus.
Host Natalie Gruzlewski returns for another season and, based on the trailer, she’s not even trying to hide how impressed she is. “Sorry, I’m getting a bit distracted talking to you. You sound like the dream man,” she tells one unnamed farmer. Fair enough, Nat.
This is the show’s 16th season, and it has a genuinely remarkable track record: 22 couples from across its run are still together today, including four from the 2025 season alone.
Meet the 2026 Farmer Wants a Wife Contestants
Farmer Jarrad, 41 — Almond Farmer, Taylorville, South Australia
Jarrad is the kind of man who will cook you a proper meal, plan a camping trip, and still want to have a real conversation at the end of it. The almond farmer from the Riverland runs Casarosa Almonds — a family business with upwards of 20,000 trees across two properties — and has been a single dad to his two boys, aged 12 and nine, for the past two years.
At 6’2″ and self-described as a fitness enthusiast, he’s the easy frontrunner for audience favourite — but what makes Jarrad genuinely compelling is his emotional clarity. “I’ve been drawn to strong, self-assured women,” he says. “But strength to me also means being able to compromise on the little things, staying open to new perspectives, and being willing to grow together.”
He’s not just looking for a partner. He’s looking for someone family-oriented, caring, and ready to laugh at the small stuff.
Farmer Dylan, 24 — Sheep Farmer & Rodeo Cowboy, Cherry Gardens, South Australia
If BookTok’s cowboy romance obsession needed a real-life protagonist, Dylan would be the casting director’s first call. The 24-year-old sheep farmer from the Adelaide Hills splits his time between riding horses, chasing calves, competing on the rodeo circuit, and running his own western wear brand, Outback Drover Co.
In his spare time — because apparently there is spare time — he cares for orphaned wildlife.
Dylan is refreshingly direct about what he wants: “A woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to take the bull by the horns.” He values honesty above everything else. “If you tell one lie, you go on to tell ten,” he says. “I need a partner that is just straight up and doesn’t play games.”
He’s a larrikin, a creative, and possibly the most socially shareable farmer this show has ever cast.
Farmer Alex, 28 — Cattle & Mushroom Farmer, Kin Kin, Queensland
Alex is the curveball. A cattle and mushroom farmer from Kin Kin in Queensland, he describes himself as “grounded, curious and creative” — a self-confessed nerd who loves live music, Italian and Japanese cooking, writing, dancing, and travel. He has been building his life and finances specifically so he can, in his own words, “comfortably disappear overseas for a while.”
He’s looking for someone artistic, fun, and a little bit cheeky — someone with a genuine lust for life. “I think romance is all about the little things,” he says.
Where most of the 2026 farmers lean into rugged country archetypes, Alex is something different: a rural romantic who probably has a poetry notebook and isn’t embarrassed about it.
Farmer Jason, 37 — Dairy Farmer, Coolabunia, Queensland
Jason’s mates call him the “gentle giant,” and by every account the label fits. The dairy farmer from Coolabunia in Queensland is a proud dad of two — a son aged 11 and a daughter aged five — and describes being hands-on with his kids as one of the most important parts of his life.
“I absolutely love being a dad,” he says, adding that he’d love to have more children in the future.
Outgoing and family-first, Jason is looking for someone fun, bubbly, genuine, and positive. He’s not expecting his future partner to move to the farm immediately, but he is hoping for someone open to the idea eventually. If Jarrad is the emotionally mature option for viewers who want a slow burn, Jason is the warm, uncomplicated choice — the kind of bloke you’d trust immediately.
Farmer Zac, 24 — Apple Orchardist, Forest Range, South Australia
Don’t let the AFL boots fool you. Zac is one of the more layered contestants in the 2026 lineup. The 24-year-old apple orchardist from the Adelaide Hills comes from a family that runs Just the Freshest, a fruit delivery business serving nearly 30 towns across the Adelaide Hills. He plays A-grade footy for the Onkaparinga Valley Bulldogs and has a twin sister, Isobel, who plays for Sturt’s women’s football team.
He also bakes — crème brûlée and chocolate brownies, specifically — and his friends know him as someone who loves bringing people together around a home-cooked feast.
Zac wants a partner who is driven, communicative, and willing to cheer each other on through life’s ups and downs. “She’s got to be a great communicator, who loves a good conversation,” he says. “It would be amazing if she’s sporty and active too.”
What About Farmer John? The Mystery Contestant Explained
Originally, six farmers were announced for the 2026 season — including Farmer John, a 37-year-old cattle farmer from Mogumber in Western Australia.
John is a Muay Thai fighter, dirt-bike rider, motor enthusiast, and self-described perfectionist. “I believe in doing everything right the first time,” he says. “I get things done no matter what.”
Here’s the interesting part: John was notably absent from the first promo, despite being listed in the original cast announcement. Whether that signals a late entrance, a production change, or something more dramatic is unclear.
The official lineup has since been listed as five farmers — but John’s name hasn’t been officially withdrawn either. We’ll update this article as more information emerges.
